In a caring, supportive, and therapeutically safe atmosphere, it is my goal to help clients achieve the personal growth they are striving for. Based on my philosophy that clients are really the experts on their lives, I see each person and presenting problem as unique. I also believe that clients have the innate strength to overcome challenges and crisis when nurtured in the therapeutic process. Integrating complimentary methods, I use an eclectic approach to help address identified problems. Those issues may be rooted in the past, such as family-of-origin, childhood experiences, and trauma, or relate to the present, manifesting themselves in symptoms of anxiety, depression, lack of motivation, relationship conflicts, or career issues, to name only a few. It is in those moments where a person can feel "out-of-sync", problems appear to become  "roadblocks", and psychological distress is imminent. Therapy can help to challenge existing thought and behavior patterns which maintain the feeling of being "stuck", acquire new coping tools, address underlying core issues and, with time, reestablish harmony and balance in thoughts, emotions, behaviors and beliefs. With the goal to decrease symptoms and increase the level of functioning, I draw predominantly from cognitive-behavioral and schema therapy, family-systemic, mindfulness, and psychodynamic theories, and incorporate EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). Reflective of my own cultural background and South Florida's diverse community, services are available in English and German.
